原始语种摘要: This chapter presents the results of RNA-sequencing in silverfish ( Ctenolepisma longicaudata ) to identify cellulase genes and their differential expression in the foregut. Transcriptomes from insects fed on 4 diets consisting of different cellulosic substrates were compared to characterize the relationship between plant cell wall degrading enzyme (PCWDE) gene expression and diet. Differential gene expression analysis revealed that cellulase gene expression is primarily driven by type of tissue rather than diet, yet when compared with rest-of-body tissues, foregut tissues presented a higher number of PCWDEs that were significantly up-regulated when C. longicaudata were fed on the diet containing the highest cellulose content.
