DESILTING OF DEPOSITED SEDIMENT AT THE UPSTREAM OF THE DEZ RESERVOIR IN IRAN

原始语种摘要: Dez dam is one of the many reservoirs in Iran which suffer from sedimentation. This paper presents the feasibility study for removing of deposited sediment from the reservoir. By constructing an underwater dam nearly 9 km upstream of the dam and a long tunnel of 15 km, it would be possible to flush sediments and discharge them to the gravel land near the Andimeshk region. There was no significant environmental impact and the flushed sediments can be used to increase the farm land in the region. It has been indicated that the method will be economically viable if the benefits from flushing 1m3 of sediment is more than $4.53.
