This research explores the similarities and differences between three specific traits of educators from a secondary school in a southern state of the United States of America, and educators from a secondary school in Belgrade, Serbia. Intrapersonal skills, adaptability, and flexibility are examined as elements of emotional intelligence. The three traits are studied as subscales of the Bar-On construct of emotional intelligence, and are assessed through the administration of the Bar-On EQi emotional intelligence assessment for the teachers from the United States (Bar-On, 2003). Similar constructs derived from a researcher developed assessment are studied from the Serbian teachers. The purpose of this analysis is multidimensional, in that we wish to determine the similarity of educators in... the United States and educators in Serbia regarding intrapersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability. Statistically significant findings after z-scores were analyzed showed that teachers from the United States' sample had higher emotional intelligence scores than the sample of teachers from Serbia.
