On an identity of Spivey for Bell numbers

原始语种摘要: We give an elementary proof of the Spivey’s identity for the Bell numbers B(k), and we show that it implies a recurrence relation for ∑ j=0n Sn[j], thus these quantities involving the Stirling numbers of the second kind are linear combination of the B(k).
