The present study was conducted from 2007 to 2009 to assess the effect of the closure of trawling at sea in 1982 on the production of lagoon prawns Penaeus duoraum notialis and shrimps Penaeus kerathurus. In this context, interviews with fishermen were conducted and catches of the docks/the wharfs of Fresco in Fresco lagoon, Tioko in Grand Lahou lagoon, Dabou, Djem, Bingerville, Grand Bassam in Ebrié lagoon and Assini-Mafia in Aby lagoon were monitored daily. The results of the research showed that the total production of lagoon prawns and shrimps ranged from 507 tons in 2006, 556 tons in 2007, 498 tons in 2008 and 546 tons in 2009. Productions vary spatio-temporally related to the environmental conditions of lagoon environments and the pressure of the fishing effort. Despite the... increasing number of gears and the number of fishermen, compared to previous results and production model proposed by Garcia in 1968 between 400 and 600 tons/year for all the lagoons of the country, these catches indicated that closing trawlers at sea has contributed to the recovery of the recruitment of shrimps and prawns. However, before opening the sea for shrimp and prawn trawlers, it is recommended to conduct experimental fishing capture-recapture at sea and lagoon in order to investigate the robustness of the proposed production model of crustaceans by Garcia versus time.
